Movie Talk
Every year, well almost, I seem to spot a chic flick which I feel like I must watch for that year.
For 2006, it was "The Devil Wears Prada" featuring the lovely Anne Hathaway and talented Meryl Streep . It also got me to have a better opinion of neurotic brits ala Emily Blunt's character. Watching the naive lead go through the fashion-tastic transformation was sure reminiscent of "The Princess Diaries" (which I can't say I hate).
2007 however was the gap year where nothing much stood out to me. I guess I would pick "Juno" for this particular year, but it's not like I'm raving about it. At least it had Jennifer Garner although I didn't like her character in the movie, but hey, it's Jennifer Garner. She just popped a second daughter. Congrats!
The "hot hate sex" comeback to the old lady's sympathy (sometimes so not needed) I saw in the trailer got me hooked to "27 Dresses" for 2008. Katherine Heigl in 27 different bridesmaid dresses and a romantic tale of a girl finding her true love after crushing on someone else for so long did help a little in making my decision. =P
In 2009, I have high hopes for "Confessions of a Shopaholic" to be it. Even the title itself promises an interesting flick. Confessions feature Isla Fisher as the shopaholic who finds herself in a bit of trouble after succumbing to her nature for a little too long, stumbles around carelessly(while stepping on quite a few toes on the way) to fix it and somehow finds love along the way. Katy Perry lookalike, Krysten Ritter, who I first noticed as the fun Lucy in Gilmore Girls, will be in this movie as the sidekick to Isla's character. Another thing to look out for!
Do check out the trailer for the movie. It's HIGH-larious!!
And, at least if this flops, there's still "Bruno" as a back-up. Yes, Borat's Bruno~
Side note, Isla is April from "Definitely, Maybe", another romantic comedy worth checking out.
Disclamer : The above are my opinion, and mine alone. So piss off, haters.
Oh, and I have been meaning to post some other stuff both here and on SRFTQ (i know, broken record). I have the material but it just hasn't materialised out right yet. I guess it will be coming up soon as I will be home alone for a while beginning tomorrow, I hope...
