Tarot Reading for 2010
With the arrival of Christmas signals one thing with this blog. Since the seasonal greetings have been exhausted[Happy Saturnalia/Yule/Dies Natalis Solis Invicti], it’s time for my annual tarot reading for the next year.
This time around I have used the Page of Pentacles as my representation (although I can close to picking the Page of Cups… Ah, to be pale, blonde and blue-eyed…). The Page of Pentacles is an introverted boy or girl with black hair and eyes, and a swarthy or tanned complexion. He/She is a conscientious person, thrifty and capable and patient student with a sense of duty who has little money but splendid prospects. (Hey, I don’t make these stuff up, blame the book =P)

The Character of Enquirer and Recent Past
The Lovers (R), 7 of Swords, 10 of Cups (R)
My interpretation : The enquirer (i.e. me) is someone with a strong emotional heart (again, the cards say it, not me) who has suffered an emotional loss. Recent efforts of the enquirer have not been wholehearted and there has been a lack of contentment in his recent past probably due to losing touch with close ones and/or feelings of isolation and misunderstanding.
Love Life and Emotional Links
The High Priest (R), Justice (R), Ace of Pentacles
My interpretation : Recent injustice, bad judgement and decisions has caused a crisis of faith and disorderly conduct. (Glad to have known? Where's my whatever-U.I.?) However, the Ace of Pentacle provides a foundation for the beginnings of prosperity in love, possibly through a windfall or chance taking.
What the Enquirer Desires
5 of Swords, 10 of Swords (R), 9 of Cups
My interpretation : Let me give you the key meaning of the three cards : Defeat, Ruin, Pleasure. So, it seems I am a masochist, and quite the aficionado at that... Geez...
On a more serious note, it appears that there is a desire in me to accept that my current predicaments are going nowhere and a change of direction is necessary, although it will not be smooth sailing any time soon. (too many swords present...)
I also desire for an excellent social life, parties, good friends, health, happiness, popularity and fun. (Seeing as how this past year has been, this would definitely be true although it's bound to be true every year...)
What the Enquirer Expects
8 of Cups (R), Ace of Swords (R), King of Cups (R)
My interpretation : I expect there to be (more than) slight complications with my plans of possibly moving next year and for it to turn very ugly, apparently. Great... Mental stress and anxiety (like there's even going to be a way of avoiding that =.=). Also, there is a possibility of (expectation of) a mature man who seems to do nothing but throw my life upside down, and the scary(-ier) part is that he sounds a lot like my father... Sugar daddy (or just plain daddy) issues?? Yuck...

The Unexpected or Unknown Factors
3 of Wands, The High Priestess, Ace of Cups
My interpretation : This card combination is probably one of the best possible for this category as 3 of Wands is the card of luck and opportunity while the Ace of Cups symbolises the beginning of love. However, the High Priestess throws things off balance with its warning of "a secret about to be revealed", quite possibly related to the mystery of life and death, or virginity. (I'm hoping it's not the latter... You guys can keep guessing on that =p)
An alternative interpretation is there will be a successful exposed love affair with a psychic or supernatural spouse. Very likely...
The Near Future
3 of Cups (R), 3 of Pentacles, Strength (R)
My interpretation : It appears my near future involves some unbridled passion and promiscuity with little regards for the feelings of others, and the use of my skills or talent in order to make a profit. Geez, whore, love triangle and successful prostitution... How lovely.
Okay, more realistically,there seems to be an ignorance of other people's feelings on my part and some affection unreciprocated in the near future (Am I not already there? There's more?) due to cowardice or loss of nerve. Also, I may be experiencing some high achievement, creating jealousy in both friends and foes which will cause me to give in or be beaten unfairly unless I can overcome my fears.
Or, I may just be moving...
The Distant Future
The Star (R), 4 of Cups (R), Knight of Wands (R)
My interpretation : My distant future looks bleak, to put it simply. All the reverses created a reading almost void of goodness. Tension, pessimism, obstinacy and lack of (or stolen) opportunity in the future creates a sense of boredom. This boredom and fear of loneliness promotes an overindulgence in physical pleasures which often leads to depression and alcohol abuse. Aside from all this, there appears to be two possibilities. Either I meet a robust young man with a ruddy complexion who is a jealous, argumentative, and aggressive man who thrives on conflict, or I become that person...
The silver lining? There is always something else, even when the going is really tough. (I’m not even sure that’s a good thing…)
Overall, a fairly bad reading. (I was going to say so-so, but who am I kidding?) What a year it is shaping up to be for me. The only saving grace is all my unexpected/unknown factors. Let’s hope that those somehow manage to outweigh all the negativity the next year seems to bring and 2010 be a much better year than I’m expecting it to be.
Interestingly, this reading is fairly male-dominated (especially if considering how oddness is another faculty of the male gender) and has 2 10’s and 3 Aces, similar to my reading last year.
